All of Eguchi USA's shinai are made of quality bamboo.  Prior to shipment to you, each shinai is hand oiled, shaped, and checked for defects.  Complete shinai are carefully assembled to ensure a perfect fit of the tsukagawa and tsuba.  We are proud of every shinai we sell.

Due to our partnerships with Hasegawa, Morimoto, Aun, and others, we sell thousands of shinai each year.  You are guaranteed a shinai in the freshest condition.  If for some reason you are dissatisfied, we will honor your request for a replacement or refund.  We cannot, however, ensure that your shinai will remain usable through multiple practices.

As all kenshi are aware, shinai by their very nature are breakable.  Eguchi USA does not warrant or guarantee any shinai once used.  Every kendoist should be familiar with the proper examination and care of both bamboo and carbon fiber shinai.  Prior to use, shinais must be thoroughly examined for cracks and/or splinters.  If any defects are discovered, for the safety of all kenshi the shinai should not be used until repairs have been made.

Additionally, every shinai should be periodically disassembled so that all edges can be filed and sanded smooth.  We also recommend that all shinais be regularly treated with a preserving agent such as oil.   Our shinai oil does a great job, as does lemon oil or even vegetable-based cooking oil.  The use of damaged or uncared for shinai is a risk to not only you, but to all kenshi you practice with, and may result in injury.  Eguchi USA shall be held harmless for any injuries.
